This is an external stage. Quoting and procurement happen in your existing tools — ERP, spreadsheets, distributor portals, or direct supplier relationships. MetisLogic does not manage this process; it connects to it through inventory visibility and PO capture at receiving.
Overview
MetisLogic is designed to work alongside the quoting, procurement tools and supplier relationships your team already uses — not to replace them. Purchase orders can originate in an external ERP or purchasing system; MetisLogic tracks and coordinates that activity in item receipts, ensuring that what gets ordered is traceable back to a specific picklist and BOM line.
The connection between this external stage and MetisLogic flows in both directions: inventory data from MetisLogic informs quoting decisions, and purchasing decisions made externally land back in MetisLogic when parts are received.
Inventory visibility during quoting
Before a quote goes out, knowing what's already on the shelf changes what needs to be purchased — and what lead times you can commit to. Quoting against existing stock rather than assuming a clean purchase can improve margin and shorten turnaround.
MetisLogic gives anyone involved in quoting real-time visibility into available inventory: quantities, locations, date codes, media types, and which customer the stock is tagged to. A quick lookup before a quote goes out is often the difference between ordering parts you already have and ordering parts you actually need.
Inventory is searchable by MPN, manufacturer, customer tag, or location — no formal project or picklist required. The same view is available to anyone with access, across all concurrent jobs.
Consignment — customer-supplied parts
Many EMS builds include parts the customer supplies rather than purchasing. Knowing what's coming in as consignment before procurement begins prevents duplicate orders and gives your quoting team a cleaner picture of what actually needs to be sourced.
MetisLogic tracks consigned inventory with the same detail as purchased stock — quantity, location, tags, date code. Consigned parts received into MetisLogic are visible across the platform, so anyone checking inventory for a quote can see customer-supplied material alongside purchased stock without confusion.
PO capture at receiving
When parts arrive from a distributor, the purchase order number and line item typically appear on the label. MetisLogic captures this automatically during receiving — creating an inventory record that connects back to the PO number, the supplier, and the customer job, without requiring the PO to be pre-entered in MetisLogic before parts arrive.
This means even teams that manage procurement entirely outside of MetisLogic get traceability from shelf to purchase order, through tags and inventory records, without additional data entry work.
